The Story Behind LILI’S TEA
It was my love and passion for tea that inspired me to develop a total concept where experience is essential. The sugar cube and the lovely pouch, the carefully drawn packaging, the graceful cups and plates ... everything has been created with the greatest care. Today, "Lili"s Tea" (a fusion of the names of my two daughters, Alice and Lidia) is available in 12 flavours. A colourful and aromatic range; pure pleasure for everyone passionate about tea. Picking tea leavesisso delicate that those of Lili's Tea are only touched by the hands of women.
The aspect "purity" is extremely important to me and therefore was a determining factor in choosing the production country. Sri Lanka, known for its infinite respect for nature, the natural cultivation and the absence of child labour. Cultivation, packaging ... Everything happens on the site. Therefore, maximum quality can be achieved and maintained. Furthermore, in this way we contribute to the enrichment of the local economy. The fact that part of the profit is intended for children who live on the plantation (studies, health/medicine...) emphasizes the purity of this concept.
My intention? Give the tea drinker the feeling that he is at the beginning of an imaginary journey, because tea is and will continue to be a story which has to be experienced to the fullest .
Sithaka Fair Tea Foundation
Lili's Tea supports the local economy and community in Sri Lanka by donating a portion of its profits to the Sithaka Fair Tea Foundation each year. Not only women are central to Lili's Tea, but also children.
Previous projects included sanitary facilities at The Sunday School in 2018 and the provision of drinking water. In 2019, clean and safe water was provided to the Dangampola Primary School.
In 2021, Lili's Tea made a donation to the Rotary campaign ‘Oxygen is life’ of the Rotary Club District 3054 in India. This donation was used to purchase ventilators for COVID patients in hospital.
Another project in 2024 was a computer donation to the Demada School – Kuruwita-Ratnapura, a school with 200 students. In addition, a smartboard was donated to the Kiravanaagama Nawodyaa school, a school with 390 students.
Certificates
Lili's Tea also attaches great importance to social and sustainable business practices. In this way, it contributes to people and nature. Therefore, Lili's Tea holds various certificates, namely the BSCI certificate (social audit), the Eco-label, the Carbon Inset label, and the Ozone Friendly label.
Furthermore, Lili's Tea complies with the SGS Global Standard for food safety and holds the BRC/IFS label.
In addition, the entire production process is powered by green energy, and all water used during the production cycle is filtered and reused. Consequently, no water or energy is lost.
Finally, the small portion packs are plastic-free, and the tea bags are biodegradable and made from plant-based corn fibres.
